Virtual Sports Day
Artemis Total: 305
Atlas Total: 374
Apollo Total: 401
Athena Total: 418
Wow what a fantastic Virtual Sports Day! Students were given 5 events to complete (12 to choose from), which tested different components of skill and fitness. The PE department asked for the challenges to be recorded to showcase the students results– and WOW did they deliver! It has been a pleasure going through and seeing the wonderful clips of students giving each challenge a go! 1498 challenges were completed over the course of the day (and there were still results coming in as late as Sunday evening). We had some of our staff complete the challenges to try and motivate the students with a score to beat. However, nothing could prepare us for Mrs Clooney (Phillips) entry! Truly sensational!!!!!
The 2 most popular events were the Wall Sit challenge along with the Lockdown Long Jump. Event 12 ‘Inspire Us’ gave students the opportunity to tell the PE department about the wonderful things they have been getting up to during the time that we have been in lockdown, to stay physically and mentally healthy. This by far was the loveliest challenge to look through as there was some great photos and videos sent in. The winning photo came from Year 9 student Grace. Who sent in a fantastic dance pose whilst on the beach (please see the picture below).
We sadly were unable to give out individual prizes as we were unable to authenticate some of the results which came in, plus there were some interesting techniques being shown (and that was just from the staff!). However, we would like to give out a special mention to the students who completed ALL 12 challenges!
